53 High Park Lofts
A four-unit loft conversion of an early-twentieth-century apartment building one block from High Park, completed in 2009.
Overview & history
The conversion was led by developer Neil Spiegel with partners Ann Shin, Jennifer Penney and Donald Cole. The roughly 8,000-square-foot building was reworked into four two- and three-bedroom lofts, main-floor units at about 2,030 square feet and penthouses at about 2,190.
The retrofit added geothermal heating and cooling, heat-recovery ventilation, heavy insulation, radiant bathroom floors and a sedum green roof, while keeping original brickwork and wood wainscoting.
