Brewery Lofts
A concrete warehouse behind Queen Street East that the CBC used for sets, workshops and archives before it was converted to about 110 hard lofts.
Overview & history
The building never brewed beer; the name was the developer's reference to the nearby Dominion Brewery. Most sources date the structure to 1956 as a warehouse, and it became the CBC's design centre in 1958, holding studios, workshops and archives. The Sorbara Group converted it in the late 1990s.
Sources put the suite count at 109 or 110, running roughly 740 to 3,695 square feet, with 14-foot ceilings, exposed concrete mushroom columns and large industrial windows. Layouts include split levels and mezzanines.
