Garment Factory Lofts
A post-war concrete garment factory on Carlaw, converted and doubled in height in 2008, where most suites trade as compact one-bedrooms.
Overview & history
The four original floors are poured concrete throughout: fluted columns, concrete floors and exposed concrete ceilings reported at 11 feet and up, lit by large warehouse windows. Four storeys of glass, steel and brick were added on top in the conversion, with balconies cut into the facade openings below.
Suites run from roughly 450 to 1,300 square feet. On market data the building trades mostly as one-bedrooms under 700 square feet and compact two-bedrooms, many of them with a single bathroom.
