A 53-unit conversion of three adjoining nineteenth-century wholesale grocery warehouses on Front Street East.
Overview & history
The three buildings served as warehouse and offices for wholesale grocers, handling produce, wheat, hides and leather. The Georgian Group acquired the site around 2000 and converted the upper floors into 53 lofts, leaving ground-floor retail.
Units run roughly 478 to 1,340 square feet and keep exposed brick and wood beam ceilings, from ten feet up to about fifteen in vaulted areas. The structures are old and settled, so sloping floors and out-of-square walls are characteristic.
