A former hospital power plant on a short street off Wellesley, kept with its brick smokestack and built up into a loft building of about 31 suites.
Overview & history
The building was a steam and power plant serving the Wellesley and Princess Margaret hospitals, put up in the early 1950s and closed with the hospital. Aykler converted it, adding three storeys over the original three; the site was too tight for a crane, so the new floors were formed by hand.
The 61-metre brick smokestack was kept, and three of the roughly 31 suites take in part of it, with a round room inside. Suites are mostly one and two bedrooms, from about 410 to 1,170 square feet.
