The Abbey Lofts
A Neo-Gothic former Methodist church on Sunnyside Avenue converted into 24 loft condominiums, completed in 2008.
Overview & history
Built in two phases for the Howard Park Methodist congregation, the building became Howard Park United Church in 1925 and was transferred to an Italian Pentecostal congregation in 1970. Developers acquired it in 2003.
The conversion removed most of the interior while keeping the limestone exterior, window tracery, buttresses and crenellated parapets. Units show exposed limestone, restored stained glass, original church doors and vaulted wood ceilings up to 17 feet.
